Set in a fantasy African kingdom, the film follows Zelie (played by Mbedu), a young woman on a quest to reclaim the magic that was stolen from her people by the ruthless King Saran. 

Alongside her older brother Tzain (played by Cole), Zelie forms an alliance with the king’s daughter, Princess Amari (played by Stenberg), and son, Prince Inan (played by Idris), to fight back against his brutal rule.
